Bishop Shina Olaribigbe of Rapture Empowerment International, Osogbo, was tragically stabbed to death in the early hours of Thursday while attempting to mediate a dispute between a couple in Osun State.
Details about the sad occurrence remain led sketchy , but sources reveal that the woman involved had been a member of Olaribigbe’s church and served as an interpreter.
Reports indicate that the couple had a history of frequent disputes, which had led them to live apart, although they were not legally divorced.
The specifics regarding the latest altercation are still unclear however, it is known that the bishop frequently intervened in their disagreements.
Early Thursday morning, the estranged husband reportedly went to his wife’s residence and found Olaribigbe there, which provoked him.
“In his anger, the man took a knife and stabbed the clergy in the chest, resulting in his immediate death.
Olaribigbe had visited to check on the wife, who had been “unwell” an anonymous source connected to the church stated.
Both the husband and wife were apprehended and are presently in custody at the Dugbe Police Division in Osogbo.
The remains of the late bishop have been transferred to the morgue at UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital in Osogbo.
Yemisi Opalola, the Public Relations Officer for the Osun Police Command, confirmed the incident.
She said, “The couple are not living together but are not legally separated. The pastor was at the wife’s home when the husband arrived and attacked him.
“The husband allegedly suspected the pastor of having an inappropriate relationship with his wife, leading to the tragic altercation.”
If the Woman was unwell(sick) and the Bishop came to pray for her or counsel her, is that why the husband should suspect him and kill him? That means since when the separation started and the Bishop meddling, the wicked husband was not happy. May his soul rest in peace. My joy us that the failed husband of the Woman did not meet the Bishop on top of the Woman but in her house or room only. May God judge this case by Himself.
