19 Northern govs, traditional rulers meet with CDS Musa over insecurity.

The governors of the 19 Northern states and traditional rulers from the region on Monday, engaged the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Christopher Musa over the state of insecurity confronting the region.

The  meeting which took place in Kaduna, the Kaduna State capital had in attendance, governors of Kaduna, Gombe, Zamfara, Nasarawa, Borno, Bauchi, Kwara and Adamawa states, with deputy governors from other Northern States.

The traditional rulers who attended the meeting were the Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Saad; Shehu of Borno, Umar El-Kanemi; Emir of Zazzau, Nuhu Bamali; Ohinoyi of Ebira land, Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, Emir of Kazaure, Emir of Bauchi.

The meeting was part of the Northern States Governors’ Forum’s efforts to engage with key stakeholders and address pressing concerns, especially the lingering insecurity, poverty, out-of-school-children syndrome, and other socio-economic challenges confronting the region.

General Musa while briefing the critical stakeholders said the  military has put enormous efforts to tackle banditry, terrorism and other security challenges bedevilling the Northern region.

In their opening remarks, the traditional rulers brought to the fore the need for urgent action to be taken to address the lingering insecurity which has impacted negatively on the economy of Northern Nigeria.
