The Nigeria Democratic Congress has directed its candidates across the country to commence campaign activities for the 2027 general elections, in line with the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The directive covers candidates contesting the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State House of Assembly elections.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the NDC asked candidates to begin consultations, sensitisation programmes and engagements with voters and party stakeholders in their respective constituencies.
The party said its candidates should work with state, local government and ward chapters to organise campaign programmes that would introduce them to the electorate while communicating the party’s policies and message.

“The party will soon release the composition of its campaign organs, which will be announced and inaugurated on a date to be communicated.
“We direct all candidates across the country to begin their campaigns. State chapters, local government chapters and down to the wards should organise and draw up itineraries for their own local campaigns.”»
The development comes as the NDC prepares to constitute and inaugurate its campaign committees ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party also directed its candidates and supporters to ensure that their campaigns remain peaceful and focused on issues, warning against violence, hate speech and abusive language.

The party further clarified the logo to be used during the campaign period, following changes it said had been made to its existing symbol.
According to the NDC, it consulted with INEC on the proposed modification and notified the electoral body of the change. The party said INEC officials were present during a meeting where the proposed modification was discussed.
However, the NDC said administrative processes required for replacing the existing logo with the modified version were still ongoing.
It therefore directed candidates, members and supporters to continue using the existing NDC logo, which features the two-finger victory sign, until the process with INEC is concluded.
The party urged all candidates and members to comply with the directive while awaiting the completion of discussions and administrative arrangements concerning the proposed logo change.
