Three children were on Wednesday found dead in a disturbing incident which has triggered police investigation at the residence of a suspected female native doctor in Ideani Community, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The bodies of the three lifeless children were found at the residence of a woman popularly known in the area as an Ezenwanyi, Prophetess of Goddess.
The victims, believed to be between six and 15 years old, were discovered inside the woman’s compound under circumstances that remain unclear.
A fourth child was reportedly rescued alive with the intervention of the President General of Ideani Community, Chief Paul Okoye and the Divisional Police Officer , Ogidi Division.
The child was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical evaluation, while the bodies of the deceased children have been deposited in a mortuary.
The identities of the victims have yet to be confirmed.
Community sources said it was not immediately clear whether the children were biological relatives of the suspect or individuals working at the residence. The woman was also said to be involved in livestock farming.
Following the discovery, police arrested the suspect, whose identity has not been made public.
She is currently being held at the Ogidi Police Division in Idemili North Local Government Area as investigations continue.
A video circulating on social media showed security operatives at the residence during the operation, while the suspect was seen being escorted away by police officers.
The Anambra State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
