Former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has reportedly been arrested by security operatives at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu and is expected to be handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission for further investigation.
According to reports, Nnaji was taken into custody on Wednesday while preparing to board a chartered flight to Abuja.
Sources familiar with the development said the former minister was intercepted at the airport by security personnel before his departure from Enugu.
The arrest is linked to an ongoing investigation by the ICPC, which had reportedly been tracking the former minister since his resignation from office last year.
Investigators are said to be probing allegations that Nnaji forged his academic certificates, a claim that reportedly formed part of the anti-corruption agency’s inquiries following his exit from government.
While official details surrounding the arrest remained limited as of press time, sources indicated that the former minister would be transferred to the ICPC headquarters in Abuja for questioning.
