Jesutega Onokpasa, a prominent lawyer, All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, and outspoken political commentator, has died.
He was 49.
News of his passing was confirmed on Monday, with tributes pouring in from party members and supporters across social media.
The cause of death remains undisclosed as of press time.
Pro-APC advocate Okezie Atani announced Onokpasa’s death via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, writing:
“We lost Barr. Jesutega Onokpasa. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
The Renewed Hope United Kingdom Facebook page also paid tribute to the late APC figure, describing him as “a passionate advocate” whose contributions to political discourse and national development will be missed.
“His work as a member of the APC Publicity Committee and the APC Presidential Campaign Council in 2023 reflected his deep commitment to the party and the country,” the tribute read.
“Onokpasa’s voice, whether in support or critique, was a vital part of Nigeria’s democratic conversation.”
Onokpasa was widely known for his frequent television appearances, where he vigorously defended the policies of President Bola Tinubu and the APC-led administration.
A staunch loyalist, he gained a reputation for his unfiltered commentary and willingness to engage in contentious political debates.
He is survived by his wife and children.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced, and further details about the circumstances of his passing are expected in due course.
