Fidelia Soriwei, Abuja

Several first-term governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress on Tuesday converged on Kebbi State for a closed-door meeting focused on governance, party affairs and national development issues.

The meeting, held at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, brought together governors from Kaduna, Plateau, Ekiti, Delta, Zamfara, Kano, Jigawa, Ebonyi, Edo, Ondo, Kogi, Sokoto and Benue states, among others.

The governors were received by the Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, alongside the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

Sources familiar with the gathering said discussions were expected to cover key national issues, as well as matters affecting the ruling APC.

The governors are also billed to deliberate on ways to deepen cooperation among state governments, support the party’s policy objectives and promote effective governance across the country.

Other areas of focus included strategies for economic growth, national cohesion and initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to be communicated by the chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum after the conclusion of deliberations.
