ARISE News has suspended political analyst Anthony Kila from its platforms following allegations that he falsified his academic credentials, saying he will no longer feature on the television network.
The broadcaster announced the decision on Tuesday in a statement issued by its Editorial Board on its official X account, citing findings from an investigative report by Premium Times that questioned Kila’s claimed academic qualifications.
According to ARISE News, the report raised concerns about his professorial title and alleged discrepancies involving his bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and professorial credentials.
The network said it contacted Kila on October 3, 2026, to give him an opportunity to respond to the allegations. However, he requested additional time, and the broadcaster said he had not responded 10 days later.
“Following claims that Anthony Kila falsified his entire academic credentials, we contacted Mr Kila on 03 October, 2026 with the allegations. He asked for more time to respond to the claims. He has not responded 10 days after,” the statement read.
ARISE News said the seriousness of the allegations had made it untenable for Kila to continue appearing on its programmes, adding that the decision would take immediate effect and apply to future appearances.
The broadcaster also clarified that it was unaware of the allegations when Kila appeared on its programmes as a freelance political analyst.
“ARISE News was unaware of these allegations at the time Anthony Kila appeared on our platform and as we take matters of credibility and integrity extremely seriously,” the statement added.
Kila, who is the Pro-Chancellor of Michael and Cecilia Ibru University in Delta State, has come under scrutiny following the publication of the investigative report.
The allegations concern his academic qualifications and use of a professorial title. They remain allegations, and the claims have not been established by a court of law.
