Prof. Chris Piwuna has emerged as the new President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Professor Piwuna, a consultant psychiatrist at the University of Jos Teaching Hospital, and current Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Jos, Plateau State, takes over from Prof. Victor Osodeke.
The election was conducted during the 23rd National Delegates Congress of the Union, in Benin, Edo State.
The keenly contested election saw Piwuna defeating his opponent, Prof. Adamu Babayo from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.
Piwuna is now the 14th President of the ASUU.
