Heavily armed suspected Lakurawa terrorists, in the early hours of Friday invaded Sarkin Noma community of Kadarko in Keana local government area of Nasarawa State killing two people.
The bandits also kidnapped three and injured several others.
It was gathered that the terrorist group, wielding AK-47 rifles and other assault weapons, stormed the community at about 7am on Friday and started shooting sporadically.
It was further learnt that the attackers went away with three people with many others injured during the attack, which lasted about an hour without any challenge from security forces.
Sarkin Noma community, located on the Lafia-Makurdi expressway, is densely populated by farmers. The areas had been in the news in recent times due to repeated terror attacks.
The latest attack on the community triggered a reaction from the angry youths and women in the area who hit the street m protest against the unprovoked attack.
The protesters were seen chanting war songs, as they l barricaded the Lafia-Makurdi highway, causing gridlock along the federal highway, and leaving commuters stranded.
They also demanded that Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state urgently address the threat to douse tension in the area
Confirming the incident, the president of, United Farmers Association in Kadarko, Chief Denis Ggbongbon Utsa, told journalists that the invaders, suspected to be Lukurawa terrorists, invaded the Sarkkn Noma community in the early hours of Friday..
He informed that two people were killed while three others were abducted by the invaders, forcing survivors to scramble for safety.
He said, “I wish to inform you all, that in the early hours of today, Friday, Nov 7, armed terrorists, the alleged Lakurawa bandits, invaded the Sarkin Noma community of Kadarko, killing two with three kidnapped, and many injured.
“We are calling on the government to rise up to the occasion by deploying security agents to the area to avoid further attack and restore confidence in our people”, he said
