The National Grid has collapsed again, throwing the country in into darkness .
This latest grid collapse marks the continuation of a troubling trend, as the grid experienced multiple collapses throughout October.
The Network observed that the grid collapsed and lost power generation from all plants at around 1: 42 pm.
As of 2:35 PM, the latest generation readings indicated that all Power Generation Companies reported zero megawatts of electricity production, highlighting the severity of the situation and the urgent need for a resolution.
The Federal Government had previously promised to implement a permanent solution to this ongoing issue.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria which confirmed the grid collapse assured that engineers are working frantically to restore lights to states that have been thrown into darkness.
TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah said, “The national grid experienced a partial disturbance at about 1:52 pm today, 5th November 2024.
“This followed a series of line and generator trippings that caused instability in the grid and, consequently, the partial disturbance of the system.”
“TCN engineers are already working to quickly restore bulk power supply to the states affected by the partial disturbance.
“Presently, bulk power supply has been restored to Abuja at 2:49 pm, and we are gradually restoring it to other parts of the country.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our electricity customers,” she said.
