Chidinma Adetshina, 23-year old Nigeria born South African citizen who was deprived from contesting the Miss South Africa beauty pageant due to xenophobia has emerged Miss Universe Nigeria.

The President of the Silverbird Group, the organisers of the pageant, Guy Murray-Bruce, announced her victory at the grand finale on Saturday at the Eko Hotel, Lagos
Adetsina who registered for the contest as Miss Taraba after withdrawing from the Miss South Africa contest beat 24 contestants to emerge winner of the competition.
She is expected to represent the nation at the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant in Mexico on 16 November.
The organizers of Miss Universe Beauty Pageant extended an offer to Adetsina to contest following her controversial withdrawal from the Miss South Africa Beauty contest.
During the contest, 19 contestants were eliminated for the emergence of top five contestants.
These were Miss Taraba (Chidimma Adetshina), Miss Anambra (Paula Ezendu), Miss Edo (Edeifo Brittany), Miss Ondo (Ayegbidun Peace Olamide), and Miss Rivers (Nyekachi Douglas.)
Adetsina was declared winner while Miss Ondo emerged as Miss Lush, and Miss Anambra as the first runner-up, with the title of Miss Supranational.
Adetsina said that the crown was not about beauty but unification when she emerged winner.
“This crown is not just for beauty; it’s a call for unity,” she said
