A Nigerian Air Force Alpha Jet crashed on Saturday afternoon near the community of Karabonde in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
Initial reports indicate that both pilots aboard the aircraft survived by successfully ejecting before the jet went down.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:10 p.m.
The crash was first reported by local media outlet Lapai TV via its official Facebook account. The report was corroborated by eyewitnesses
The witnesses suggested the aircraft may have originated from the Kainji Air Force Base and stated that military personnel were mobilizing to the crash site.
As of press time, the Nigerian Air Force has not released an official statement regarding the incident. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
Officials are expected to provide further details as the investigation proceeds.
