The Peopled Democratic Party (PDP) 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled to hold Monday, could not hold, as the Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting slated two hours earlier was botched.
Ibrahim Tsauri, former Secretary of the party, disclosed this to the media at the party’s secretariat.
He said the policemen at the venue claimed they had received an “order from above” to seal off the location of the NEC meeting, which was to be preceded by the BOT meeting at Wadata House, now heavily guarded by security operatives.
“The policeman told me, ‘There is an order from above to stop the meeting.’ This meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. I came here for the meeting, so for me, I can only brief you on the politics.
“Since they have stopped the BOT, I do not know if they can hold the NEC,” Tsauri added.
Meanwhile, the party has announced a change in the venue for the meeting after armed security operatives sealed off its national secretariat in Abuja.
In a statement posted on the party’s official Facebook page, the PDP directed all BoT members to converge at the Yar’Adua Centre in the Central Business District instead of the original venue at the party headquarters.
According to the announcement signed by the party’s management, the BoT meeting, which was initially scheduled for 10 a.m had to be moved due to the unexpected lockdown of the secretariat.
