A tanker explosion, on Monday morning, reportedly killed several people in Kaduna, the State capital.
It was gathered that the explosion left unidentified number of persons dead.
The incident happened at about 8:30 a.m. on Monday near Rochas Foundation School, along the Kaduna–Kano expressway bypass.
An eye witness who simply identified himself as Abubakar told journalists in Zaria, that the explosion was caused by two fuel-laden tankers and two passenger-filled Golf cars.
He explained that the vehicles were involved in head on collision which triggered five loud explosions.
Abubakar started that development further caused a massive fire and a thick smoke on the highway.
“All the occupants of the cars died on the spot, except one driver who survived but sustained severe burns,” he said.
As at the time of filing this report, emergency services and security operatives have been deployed to the scene of the incidence.
The security operatives have cordoned off the area, urging motorists to take alternative routes while rescue and recovery operations continue.
Efforts to speak with the Kaduna State police command proved abortive but a personnel who spoke on condition of anonymity told our correspondent that police officers seen around the scene of incidence were drafted from Zaria police area command.
