Governor’s elected under the platform of the main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party has upheld the nomination of Mr Udeh Okoye as the party’s national secretary.
The PDP Governor’s Forum after its meeting in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital on Monday said it stood by its earlier decision in Asaba where it recognized Udeh Okoye as the substantive National Secretary of the party.
The meeting was presided over by the Forum’s Chairman, and Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed.
The Bauchi Governor who read the communique said that the meeting resolved that in the wake of the recent judgement of the Supreme Court, the Deputy National Secretary is recommended to act as National Secretary to allow the South East Zone to nominate the substantive National Secretary.
The South East Zone which had stood by it’s nomination of Udeh-Okoye is now expected to, in the wake of the Supreme Court Judgment, return Udeh-Okoye to the National Working Committee of the Party as it’s nomination for the position in line with the provision of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017).
