Buhari to Be Buried Tuesday in Daura – Katsina Governor

Former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday in a London hospital at the age of 82, will be laid to rest on Tuesday in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina state, announced the burial plans on Monday while briefing journalists at the Government House in Katsina. 

According to the Governor, Buhari’s remains will arrive Katsina by noon on Tuesday, with the burial scheduled for 2 p.m. in Daura, Daura Local Government Area.

“We have made consultations with the family and officials in London. The body will be brought in by 12 noon, and the burial will take place by 2 p.m. in Daura,” Radda stated.

The governor extended condolences on behalf of the state government to the Buhari family, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Nigerians at large, describing the late president as “our father” and a statesman who served the nation with dedication.

In response to the passing of his predecessor, President Tinubu had directed Vice President Kashim Shettima and his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to accompany the late president’s remains back to Nigeria.

Buhari, Nigeria’s former military ruler from 1983 to 1985 and two-term civilian president from 2015 to 2023, died following a brief illness.
