Most Rev Valerian Okeke, the
Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha on Easter Sunday visited Onitsha Correctional Centre where he celebrated Easter with the Inmates.
In his homily in a mass to mark the event with the topic “Following Jesus With Love” the Prelate said love of God conquer all sins.
He disclosed that love of God does not discriminate as his sun shines on both good and bad persons.
The Archbishop advised christians and none christians to always show love to everyone including their enemies, nothing that the love of God has no boundaries.
The national patron of all the Correctional centres in the country urged the Inmates to avail themselves of the opportunities provided in the centre such as the skill acquisition, education and other opportunities provided in the Onitsha Correctional Centre for their own good.
Archbishop Okeke presented one caw, bags of rice, Easter cake, toothpaste, toilet papers and toilet soap, amongst other gifts to the inmates.
According to him this would go a long way in making them useful to themselves and the society after serving their jail terms.
In his speech, the Chaplain of the center, Rev. Fr. Okpalaugo commended the Archbishop for his love and care for the Inmates, mostly his prayers which according to him has set many Inmates free.
He further thanked the Archbishop for identifing with the Inmates and by giving them a sense of belonging through provision of items for them.
In his vote of thanks, the Comptroller Anambra State Correctional Centres, Mr Valetine Ikechukwu Paul applauded the Archbishop for his love and assistance to Onitsha Correctional Centre and humanity at large.
He prayed God to reward him with long life and good health.
