Chaos as Ude-Okoye attacked, forced out of PDP BoT meeting

James Harrison, Abuja

There is chaos in the ongoing Board of Trustees meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja as a former Youth Leader, Sunday Ude-Okoye, who has been presenting himself as National Secretary, was attacked and forced out of the meeting.

Ude-Okoye was attacked by members of the party loyal the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu at the meeting being held at the party’s National Headquarters, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja.

Ude-Okoye was also sighted obstructing some men to go into the meeting while the men of the Nigerian Police, Department of State Security Services, and other agencies are battling  to restore order.

Both Ude-Okoye and Anyanwu are laying claims to the position of National Secretary of the PDP.

The South East zone of the PDP had nominated Ude-Okoye to replace Anyanwu as National Secretary in 2023 after Anyawu’s emergence as the party’s candidate for the Imo State governorship election. Anyanwu lost the election to Governor Hope Uzordinma.

The Enugu Division Court of Appeal  upheld Ude-Okoye as the party’s  National Secretary on Devember 20, 2024.

But the contest was far from over as the Court of Appeal in Abuja issued a restraining order which directed Anyanwu to remain National Secretary until the Supreme Court rules on the appeal.
