The Governor of Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Governor was said to have defected on Wednesday after a closed-door meeting held at the Government House in Asaba.
Government House sources said that the Governor defected after “extensive consultations with political stakeholders”
The source added that the political decision with far-reaching implications was made in the pursuit of the interest of Delta State.
Governor Oborevwori was elected on the platform of the PDP in 2023.
The Governor is yet to make any formal statement on the issue of his defection.
There have been rumours about his plan to defect to the APC without confirmation
