EFCC arrests 14 Chinese, one Nigeria over illegal mining in Ogun State.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, have arrested 14 Chinese and one Nigerian over illegal mining in Ogun. State.

The suspects were arrested at four illegal lithium processing plants in the Ogere area of the State. 

The spokesperson of the  Commission, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arrest to journalists on Tuesday.

He said their arrest followed intelligence report and surveillance on Friday day, October 23, 2026.

According to him, bags of lithium rocks, 18 mobile devices, four laptop computers, two decoders, a television remote control, and a trailer truck were recovered from the suspects.

He said he suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
