President Bola Tinubu has urged Muslims across the country to use this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration to reflect on and emulate the virtues of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), particularly devotion, tolerance, humility, and selflessness.
The President made the call in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, to mark the birth of the Holy Prophet.
Tinubu congratulated Muslim faithful on the occasion and urged them to go beyond the celebration by reflecting on the teachings and exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad.
He said, “The Muslim faithful should make deliberate effort to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad. There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Prophet.”
The President also called on Islamic scholars and other religious leaders to use the occasion to pray for the country and encourage their followers to translate the Prophet’s teachings into greater commitment to national unity and development.
He urged Muslims celebrating the occasion to extend support and compassion to the poor, vulnerable and less privileged, saying such acts were consistent with the spirit of the season.
Tinubu further called for prayers for peace and an end to insecurity and other challenges confronting the country.
He also admonished Nigerians to use the occasion to promote tolerance, compassion and peaceful coexistence, stressing the importance of collective efforts in building a more united and prosperous nation.
