Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has congratulated Muslims in Rivers State and across Nigeria on the celebration of Eid ul-Mawlid, urging them to uphold the values of peace, compassion and tolerance exemplified by Prophet Muhammad.
In a goodwill message marking the Islamic festival, the governor encouraged Muslim faithful to reflect on the teachings of the Holy Prophet and embrace virtues that promote harmony, selflessness and service to humanity.
Fubara, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, said the principles associated with Prophet Muhammad’s life remain relevant to fostering peaceful coexistence and social progress.
He said, “On this joyous occasion, I pray that Allah (SWT) accepts your prayers, grants you good health, prosperity, and continued peace in our state and nation.
“In Rivers State, we are proud of our diversity and the spirit of unity that binds Christians, Muslims, and people of all faiths together.
“Your prayers, peaceful conduct, and contributions to the growth and development of our state remain deeply appreciated.
“Let us continue to cherish our diversity and promote harmony, tolerance, and understanding. May our shared values of compassion, forgiveness, and unity guide us in our daily lives.”
The governor noted that Rivers State’s strength lies in its diversity and stressed the need for residents to continue promoting mutual respect and understanding across religious and ethnic lines.
Fubara also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring peace, security and equal opportunities for all residents, regardless of their faith or background.
He urged citizens to remain united and continue supporting efforts aimed at sustaining stability and development across the state.
