Former Inspector General of Police, and ex-chairman of the Police Service Commission Solomon Arase, has died in Abuja hospital.
He was 69

It was gathered that the former top police man in the country died at Cedarcrest Hospital in Abuja.
Details of the death of the former IGP are not yet available as no official statement has been issued by the police or his immediate family.
Arase, regarded as one of the best to lead the Nigerian Police force served as the country’s 18th Inspector-General of Police from April 2015 and to 2016 when he retired.
In January, 2023, former President Muhammadu Buhari appointed him chairman of the Police Service Commission.
However, in June 2024 President Bola Tinubu relieved him of the position.
Arase was born on June 21, 1956, in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
He obtained a degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1980 and joined the Nigeria Police Force on December 1, 1981.
His dedication and exemplary performance saw him to the top of career.
