The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a notorious “one-chance” armed robbery syndicate over the murder of a legal practitioner, Barrister Princess Chigbo Nwamaka, in Abuja.
The police said the suspects were arrested following a targeted intelligence-led operation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, who directed operatives to ensure that all those involved in the killing and related crimes were apprehended.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, Abuja, SP Josephine Adeh on Sunday said between January 5 and 10, 2026, operatives of the Command’s Scorpion Squad, led by ACP Victor Ogbeide Godfrey, tracked the victim’s mobile phone using digital forensic intelligence.
The operation led to coordinated arrests at Dei-Dei, Dakwa and Dan-Tata communities within the Kubwa axis of the FCT.
Those arrested include Saifullahi Yusuf, 22, and his elder brother, Ishau Yusuf, 24, both from Kaduna State and residents of Dan-Tata, Dei-Dei, as well as Minka’ilu Jibril, popularly known as Dan-Hajia, also from Kaduna State.
Police investigations revealed that the suspects are part of a long-running “one-chance” robbery syndicate that operates within the FCT, particularly during festive periods.
According to police findings, the suspects allegedly attacked Barrister Chigbo on January 5, 2026, at about 5:50 p.m., after she boarded their black Volkswagen Golf 3 along the Kubwa Expressway.
The suspects reportedly wound up the tinted windows, threatened her with weapons and attempted to extort ransom for her release.
When she allegedly resisted, the suspects physically assaulted her and pushed her out of the moving vehicle along the expressway, leading to fatal injuries.
The suspects also confessed to dispossessing the victim of her Android mobile phone, which was later sold at Dei-Dei for ₦120,000.
Police said Minka’ilu Jibril received ₦30,000, Saifullahi Yusuf ₦15,000, while Ishau Yusuf and another suspect currently at large, identified as Musa, shared the remaining sum.
During the arrests, police recovered several items believed to have been used in carrying out the crimes, including five scissors, two daggers, two knives, a long chain allegedly used to restrain victims, and a plier.
The police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect and dismantle other criminal networks linked to the syndicate.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism, CP Dantawaye reassured residents of the FCT of the Command’s determination to eliminate criminal activities across the territory.
