The Federal Government has announced the cancellation of the parade earlier scheduled to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary on Wednesday, October 1.
A statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen said the government clarified that the decision does not diminish the importance of the milestone celebration.
“The cancellation in no way undermines the significance of this anniversary. The government remains fully committed to celebrating Nigeria’s 65th year of independence with dignity and enthusiasm,” the statement read.
It further confirmed that all other activities lined up for the Independence Anniversary will proceed as planned.
While expressing regret for any inconvenience the cancellation may cause, the Federal Government appealed for the continued understanding, support, and cooperation of Nigerians, the diplomatic community, and invited guests.
The statement also urged citizens to support the ongoing reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at building a stronger and more prosperous nation.
