Clement Adewale Adeyemi Oluyide, a 29 year-old local footballer slumped and died during the final match of Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke memorial tournament in Osogbo, Osun State capital on Thursday evening.
The Network gathered that the tournament was organised by the member of House of Representatives representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State, Honorable Bamidele Salaam.
The Osun State Police Command confirmed the death of Adeyemi Adewale to newsmen on Friday.
The police informed that Adewale died while participating in football competition in Osogbo, the state capital.
The late victim is said to be a player of the Ilesa West Local Government Area football team.
It was further learnt that, the doctors confirmed him dead at the hospital where he was rushed to.
Osun State Command Police Public Relations Offiice,Yemisi Opalola, who confirmed the incident in a short statement made available to journalists, said the incident occurred on Thursday in Osogbo.
Parts of the statement read, “Today, (Thursday) while the Adeleke Memorial Cup Final match was going on at Ataoja School of Science, one Adeyemi Adewale ‘M’ 29yrs, a player of Ilesa West Football team, slumped on the pitch.
“He was rushed to the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead by a doctor.”
“Investigation had commenced into the matter, while the remains of the deceased had been deposited at the Uniosun Teaching Hospital morgue.
