A former Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Mohammed Uwais, is dead.

A top judicial source said that Justice Uwais died after battling ill health for some time.
He died at 89
Sources said that the former CJN died in Abuja on Friday.
Uwais served as CJN from 1995 to 2006.
The eminent jurist was Chairman of the prominent Justice Mohammed Uwais Commission set up by the late President Umar Yaradua in 2008.
He made far reaching recommendations for reforms in the Judicial sector.
