Fubara Makes First Public Appearance

By Kamsi Anayo, Awka

Suspended Gov. Simi Fubaraof Rivers state, was seen in public on Sunday, marking his first appearance since the state of emergency was declared in Rivers.

President Bola Tinubu announced the emergency and suspended Fubara, his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly during a nationwide broadcast last Tuesday.

On Sunday morning, Fubara attended the service at Salvation Ministries’ global headquarters in Port Harcourt.

He arrived at the church around 10 a.m. in a convoy of six vehicles, accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, and several security aides.

There had been speculation about Fubara’s whereabouts following the emergency rule declaration, with rumours suggesting that he had moved to the Bayelsa State Government House in Yenagoa for safety.

Concerns about his security and well-being dominated online, raising questions about his situation.

However, Fubara’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, addressed these concerns, dismissing the rumours and confirming that the governor is safe and doing well.

This public sighting of Fubara has temporarily eased fears about his safety, even as discussions about the state of emergency in Rivers continue.
