The Rivers State Government conveyed its condolences to former Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, over the death of his mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi, in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Onwuka Nzeshi, on July 18, 2026.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara, in the condolence message issued on behalf of the government and people of Rivers State, described the passing of Amaechi’s mother as a significant loss to her family, the Catholic congregation, the Ubima community and the state.
The governor expressed sympathy with the former governor and acknowledged the pain associated with losing a mother.
He urged the family to find comfort in the life she lived and the legacy she left behind.
Fubara also acknowledged the vital role Mama “played in shaping the character and values of her family and the community at large.”
The governor prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family and asked God to grant the departed matriarch eternal rest.
