A fuel tanker exploded on Tuesday along the Ibadan Expressway in Oyo State, between the Oremeji and Olorunsogo axis, causing a major traffic gridlock and widespread panic.
As of press time, there were no confirmed casualties.
However, the fire continued to rage as emergency responders worked to contain the blaze and prevent further escalation.
The Oyo State Fire Service confirmed its swift response to the scene.
General Manager of the agency, Akinyemi Akinyinka, stated that firefighters were on the ground battling the flames and working to secure the area.
Motorists have been advised to avoid the affected section of the wexpressway and consider alternative routes as rescue operations are ongoing.
