Gov. Hyacinth Alia of Benue state has recalled the state’s Attorney–General and Commissioner for Justice, Fidelis Mnyim, from indefinite suspension.
Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to the governor announced the recall of Mnyim’s on Tuesday in Makurdi.
The recall follows Mnyim’s decision to withdraw the state from a suit challenging the legality of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
According to Kila, Mnyim’s withdrawal of the state from the case met the conditions set for him to return to office.
Kula said the reinstatement of the Commissioner was made during a state executive council meeting in Makurdi.
Gov. Alia had on Oct. 23, 2024 imposed an indefinite suspension on Mnyim for joining Benue state in the suit without due authorisation from the state executive council.
