Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has refuted claims suggesting he has any form of relationship with former BBNaija star, Nengi Rebecca Hampson.
There are rumors in circulation that Nengi is carrying the pregnancy of the Bayelsa number one citizen.
The speculation gained traction after controversial blogger Gistlover hinted at the alleged affair, stating that Nengi had become the governor’s fifth wife.
But in his reaction to the wild claim, one of the governor’s spokespersons, Dr. Kola Oredipe, dismissed the allegations as “baseless fabrications.”
He said that while Governor Diri was busy inaugurating a brand-new road in Yenagoa, social media e-rats were busy spreading falsehoods about the governor.
In his statement, Oredipe clarified: “Nengi Rebecca Hampson has no personal relationship with Governor Diri. Regrettably, purveyors of fake news are not happy with the governor’s rising political profile.”
He further described the rumors as a distraction, insisting on the need to regulate social media platforms.
Also, the reality TV star denied being pregnant for the governor.
While she admitted that she was pregnant, she denied having any relationship with the governor in a post on X.
“As much as I believe social media lies aren’t worth my time, I’ve come to accept that we live in a world where people are quick to spread lies without limits so let me be clear, I’m not pregnant for any Governor.
“I’ve chosen to speak coz this isn’t just an attack on me, it involves people I hold in the highest regard, and I won’t allow a beautiful, personal part of my life to be turned into something ugly.” She wrote.
