Suspected terrorists on Monday abducted an unspecified number of travellers along the Wawa–Luma Road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
Residents said the attack, which began around 4 p.m., continued for nearly three hours without any security intervention.
According to local sources, the gunmen laid an ambush for two passenger vehicles heading to Gupanti and Lumma communities and whisked away all occupants.
Another vehicle travelling toward Papiri was reportedly shot at, but the driver managed to escape unhurt.
The assailants were said to have operated on motorcycles, with each bike carrying three armed men.
“The attackers split into three groups — one was seen around Kale, another moved toward the Konkoje axis and the Wawa–Kaiama stretch, while the third advanced along the Wawa–Luma route,” a resident said.
