Bandits have killed two persons and Kidnapped 26 others when they launched unprovoked attacks on communities in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The State Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KadVS), Mr Yunusa Shehu, who stated this in a statement on Wednesday, said the bandits also injured one person.
The PRO who identified those killed as Alhaji Surajo and Alhaji Ado, said they were killed in Tunburku, while 26 residents were abducted in Tudun Amada.
According to him, the attack happened in Tunburku, Tudun Amada and Kallon Kura communities in the local government area.
Shehu explained that the assailants also rustled cattle belonging to residents during separate incidents.
He added that another resident, Ayyuba Usman, sustained injuries during the attacks, which occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on Monday.
In another incident, the bandits invaded Kura in Danmahawayi District at about 9 p.m. on Saturday and rustled cattle belonging to residents.
Shehu said the number of cattle initially reported stolen was estimated at between 15 and 17, stating that efforts were ongoing to ascertain the actual number of rustled cattle.
According to him, the attackers also invaded Kallon Kura in Danmahawayi District during the night and rustled cattle before security personnel mobilised to the area.
“Following intelligence on the movement of the bandits and the stolen cattle, KadVS personnel mobilised to track the attackers and recover the animals.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of the KadVS Sector Coordinator in Giwa Local Government Area, who led the personnel during the recovery exercise”, Shehu said.
When contacted, DSP Mansur Hassan, Police Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Command, said he would call back after obtaining further clarification on the attacks.
However, as of the time of filing this report, Hassan had not called back with further clarification.
