The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of a 60-year-old school headmaster, Mr Matthew Owoade, in Igbojaye, Itesiwaju Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed on Monday that Owoade, who heads the Nomadic Basic School, Ogodu, Igbojaye, was kidnapped on Saturday evening.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. as the headmaster was returning from his farm at Budo Aare.
Ayanlade said armed men intercepted the victim and took him to an unknown location.
He added that the victim’s son, Abiola Owoade, reported that the kidnappers had since contacted the family and demanded a ransom of N30 million.
“The son further said that the abductors had contacted the family and demanded N30 million ransom,” the police spokesperson said.
The command said efforts were ongoing to rescue the headmaster and track down those responsible for the abduction.
