•••Police Launch Manhunt For Abductors

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Aribibia Fubara, a director with the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service in Port Harcourt.
It was learnt that the assailants, numbering six, arrived at the Marine Base area through the Okirika Waterfront in a speedboat on Saturday, August 24, 2024.
It was also learnt that the gunmen executed the abduction in a commando style, firing shots indiscriminately into the air to create tension.
Upon reaching their target, they immediately whisked Fubara into their boat and sped off, leaving the scene in disarray.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force, Rivers State Command, has said that it had launched a manhunt for the abductors of Aribibia Fubara.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, stated this while confirming the incident to journalists in Port Harcourt on Monday.
Iringe-Koko said the police were going after Fubara’s abductors with a view to releasing him.
According to her, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu had directed tactical units of the command to ensure the victim’s unconditional release.
She said, “The command is aware of the incident and the CP has directed tactical units in the command to ensure that the victim is released unhurt.
“A manhunt has been launched to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book.”
The victim’s younger brother, Emmanuel Fubara, who broke the news, said that his elder brother was kidnapped by gunmen at a pub within Okirika waterfront where he usually hangs out to relax.
He said, “The incident happened on Saturday night, a few minutes past 8pm, at the Okrika waterside axis.
“He normally hangs out the neighbourhood to relax and take a few bottles of beer, it has been like that over the years.
“All of a sudden, some guys came with boats from the waterside jetty and walked direct to him (Fubara), some persons who saw the gunmen started running helter-skelter for their safety because they were shooting rapid shots into the air.
“After they left, people came out and discovered that it was my elder brother that was kidnapped and whisked away.”
