Henry Nwosu, Green Eagles Legend Dies at 62

Nigeria football legend Henry Nwosu on Saturday morning died after a five-day battle with illness at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).

Nwosu who once had a close shave with death a few years back, was admitted to the intensive care unit of the state’s hospital on Wednesday.

Segun Odegbami a former captain of the Green Eagles who won the 1980 Nations Cup broke the news of the former midfielder.

“Henry Nwosu passes on!” he posted on a WhatsApp chat. He would further reveal the situation around his condition.

“After 5 days in hospital battling for his life, the one I call ‘Youngest Millionaire’ passed on at 4:00 am this morning at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos where he had been in Intensive Care since Wednesday.

It is with deep pain in my heart that I have to be the conveyor of the news of the death of Henry Nwosu MON.

May he rest peacefully with our Creator in Heaven,” Odegbami stressed.

Nwosu who was born on June 14, 1963, scored 4 time in 31 appearances for the national team.
