Kano anti-corruption agency arrests governor’s aide, three LG officials

By Attah Ede

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), has arrested Governor Abba Yusuf’s Senior Special Assistant, Mustapha Maifada over alleged diversion of N105 million.

Also arrested along with him are three officials of the Nassarawa Local Government Area who were fingered in the deal.

PCACC Chairman Muhuyi Rimin-Gado, disclosed  in a statement on Wednesday.

Gado explained that the suspects, including the council’s Director of Personnel Management, Treasurer, and Cashier, are currently in custody.

“The local government officials were initially directed to issue a payment of N105,000 for a program but allegedly wrote a cheque of N105 million to the governor’s aide in November 2024.

“The discrepancy raised suspicions, prompting an investigation by the anti-graft agency.

“We initiated a probe after gathering intelligence from a financial monitoring system.

In the course of  questioning, the suspects admitted that the payment was a mistake, but the commission remains doubtful due to the time lapse since November and other evidence gathered”, Gado explained.
