Nnamdi Kanu, detained self acclaimed leader of the proscribed separatist group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has fired all members of his legal team.
Kanu told the court that he was willing to defend himself, and based on his position, the Senior Advocates in the team, led by Kanu Agabi (SAN), announced withdrawal from participation in the case.
Agabi (SAN) told journalist that the legal team had to withdraw following Nnamdi Kanu’s request to take over the case.
Agabi said that the legal team had to show respect for the clients de union to take over his case.
Kanu addressed the court from the dock, challenging the court’s jurisdiction to continue to try him.
Kanu who was expected to open his defence argued that the court lacks jurisdiction to try him.
