Kebbi High Court Judge Freed After Week in Captivity

Hon. Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza of the Kebbi State High Court has regained his freedom after spending a week in captivity following his abduction in the state.

A family member confirmed his release on Monday, stating that the judge had returned home safely a few hours earlier.

The relative expressed gratitude over his safe return and thanked those who supported the family during the ordeal.

“We are in jubilation and full of gratitude to God for seeing our own return safely from captivity.

“He was just released and has returned home now after spending one week with the bandits.

“We sincerely thank and appreciate the Kebbi State Judiciary, the security agencies, and the entire people of Kebbi State who contributed in different ways, offered prayers, and sent messages of sympathy. Your concern and support gave us strength, and we are grateful for your solidarity.

“Other details of how he was released will be made available later.”

Justice Bunza was abducted about a week ago, triggering concern among members of the judiciary, residents and other stakeholders in Kebbi State.

Details surrounding the circumstances of his release had not been disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
