Renowned Igbo Catholic music composer and singer, Dr. Jude Nnam, who was abducted by gunmen in Anambra State, has been released.

Nnam was kidnapped on Thursday evening around 6 PM while attending a church function in Umunnachi, Anambra State.

He was released on Wednesday, having spent nearly a week in the kidnappers’ den.

The family announced his release in a post on the musician’s Facebook page.

“The sound of victory is here! Our beloved ‘Ancestor’, Dr. (Sir) Jude Nnam, is back to continue the work of the Lord!” the post declared.

Previously, the family had dismissed as false and misleading a message circulating on social media claiming that Nnam had been freed by his captors.

Nnam, also known as ‘Ancestor’, serves as the National Music Director for the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and is a member of the National Liturgical Commission.
