Kidnappers of the 12 passengers of Benue Links bus have demanded a ransom of N350 million before the release of their victims.
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, last Sunday hijacked a Benue Links Bus with registration number 14B-143BN and abducted the 12 passengers on board, leaving only one.
The latest incident brought to five this year 2025, that Benue links bus would be attacked and hijacked by suspected kidnappers and passengers taken hostage.
The latest incident happened at about 6:30 pm last Sunday at Eke Olewugbecho community, along the Enugu- Ugbokolo-Otukpo Federal Highway in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.
The suspected abductors, first attacked the bus, robbed all the passengers on board before taken them to unknown destination.
They(kidnappers), have established contact with one of the victim’s , where they demanded N30m to secure the release of their person.
Confirming the development to newsmen on Thursday, a relative of one of the victims, Terna Agbecha said his cousin, Hembadoon Akume, was among those abducted.
According to Agbecha, the kidnappers have already contacted the family with a demand of N30 million.
“They called and asked for N350 million. Our elder sister has paid N500,000, but they refused to set her free,” he said.
The families of the abducted passengers have appealed to the Benue State government and security agencies to intervene and secure the immediate release of their loved ones.
