The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has commenced a large-scale security deployment across Kwara State ahead of the Sallah celebrations, positioning 2,480 operatives in strategic locations to prevent security breaches during the festive period.
The deployment, announced on Monday is part of coordinated efforts to secure public spaces, protect critical infrastructure and maintain law and order before, during and after the celebrations.
The Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Umar Mohammed, said personnel had already been stationed at identified flashpoints and crowded locations across the state, including worship centres, markets, recreational centres, motor parks and other sensitive public areas.
According to him, the operation is being carried out in collaboration with other security agencies to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free celebration for residents.
“We have deployed 2,480 personnel across Kwara State to ensure adequate security during the Sallah celebration. Our duty is to protect lives and critical national assets,” he said.
The commandant also appealed to residents to remain security conscious throughout the holiday period and promptly report suspicious movements or activities to security operatives.
The latest deployment comes amid heightened security concerns in parts of the country, with agencies intensifying surveillance and preventive operations during major religious and public celebrations.
