By Attah Ede

Armed bandits have reportedly killed one Corporal Shamsudeen Lawal, the police orderly attached to the executive chairman of Malumfashi local government council of Katsina State, Maharazu Dayi.

Lawal was reportedly killed on Wednesday when the bandits invaded residence of the council boss on Tuesday night.

According to an eye witness who spoke to  journalists on Wednesday, on condition of anonymity, the policeman was killed in his attempt to repel the gunmen after they  stormed the residence of the chairman.

He said Maharazu Dayi and his family were at home at the time of the attack, but narrowly escaped

According to him, the incident caused devastated damages to parts of the Chairman’s house.

Malumfashi LGA is among the flashpoint where armed bandits are always having their field day in Katsina State.

Terrorist attacks, including killings, abductions, and cattle rustling, have become common in several local councils, particularly those close to forest reserves.

The state government, through the Community Watch Corps (CWC), has been working alongside security agencies to combat banditry.

The latest attack has equally raised fresh concerns over the effectiveness of those measures and the need for enhanced security strategies.

The Katsina State Police Command is yet to release an official statement on the incident as at the time of this report.

Efforts to reach the  Katsina  State  command police public relations, DSP Sadiq Aliyu prove abortive as he had not  responded to the message sent to him as at the time of filing this report.
