Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed condolences to the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, following the death of his wife, Olori Basirat Ajibola.
Makinde described her death as a loss to Ibadanland and the state, extending his sympathies to the monarch, the Ajibola family and the Ibadan traditional institution.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the governor said the late Olori, who held the title of Aare Onibon Iyalode of Ibadanland, contributed to the community through her support for the monarch and commitment to its wellbeing.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Oyo State, I extend my deepest sympathies to Oba Tajudeen Ajibola and the entire family.
“Her passing is a painful loss, and we pray that the Almighty grants His Majesty and other members of the family the strength and comfort needed at this difficult time. May her soul rest in perfect peace,” Makinde said.
The governor added that Olori Basirat’s legacy of humility and service would be remembered by those who knew her.
He also reaffirmed the state government’s support for the traditional institution and the people of Ibadanland as they mourn her passing.
