The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed that Miss Linda Ameh, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and legal practitioner earlier declared missing in Abuja, has been found safe.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday, May 10, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh.
According to the Police PRO, Ameh personally reported at the Maitama Police Station after she was found, where she provided details surrounding the incident that led to her disappearance.
“The FCT Police Command wishes to inform the public that Ms. Linda Ameh, the legal practitioner earlier reported missing on 6th May 2026, has been found and personally reported to the Maitama Police Station to provide details of the incident,” she said.
The police added that investigations were ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the incident.
Adeh further stated that the NYSC member was assisting investigators with useful information to support ongoing inquiries.
“She is assisting the Police with useful information to aid ongoing investigative efforts and ensure the perpetrators are apprehended,” she added.
The police update followed days after the young lawyer was declared missing shortly after leaving her workplace in the Maitama area of Abuja on May 6.
Ameh, who was serving in the Federal Capital Territory under the NYSC scheme, had recently secured employment as a Sales Manager at Blades and Butchers Ltd., a livestock and agricultural products company located on Lake Chad Crescent, Maitama.
Family sources had earlier disclosed that she resumed work at the company barely two weeks before her disappearance.
Concerns over her whereabouts intensified after repeated attempts by friends and family members to reach her through her mobile phones failed, with all lines switched off.
The matter was subsequently reported to the Maitama Division of the Nigeria Police Force, while NYSC authorities were also informed.
At the time, family members described the situation as traumatic and expressed fears over her safety after no ransom demand or communication was received from any individual or group.
The latest development has, however, brought relief to relatives, colleagues and fellow corps members who had expressed concern over her disappearance.
