NAF Begins Airlift of Materials for Edo Guber Poll

The Nigerian Air has commenced airlift of election materials for the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State scheduled for 21 September 2024.

Deputy Director Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, said in a statement on Wednesday that the move was part of the efforts to aid smooth conduct of the elections.

He said that the operation underscores the collaborative efforts between the Air Force and and the Independent Electoral Commission in the provision of necessary logistic to achieve the conduct of peaceful polls.

“This move is part of a broader effort to ensure timely and secure delivery of sensitive materials necessary for the smooth conduct of the elections.

“The airlift operation demonstrates the collaboration between NAF and INEC, aimed at facilitating logistics and ensuring a peaceful election process in Edo State.

“This is in fulfilment of NAF’s constitutional responsibility of providing Military Aid to Civil Authority.”

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, had in a recent meeting with the INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, assured of  NAF’s commitment to airlift electoral materials for the conduct of the election.
