Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has distributed laptop computers and other smart devices to selected secondary schools in Kogi Central as part of activities marking her third anniversary in the Senate.
The intervention, carried out on Monday, November 2, 2026, targeted four schools: OCSS Oboroke, Adavi Model Secondary School, Adavi Eba, and Community Secondary School, Obangede.
According to a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by her media aide, Mike Idoko, the initiative is aimed at improving digital learning, expanding access to educational resources and promoting technology-based education among students.
Speaking during the distribution, Akpoti-Uduaghan said her approach to representation extended beyond legislative activities to practical interventions that improve the lives of her constituents.
“For me, the essence of representation is not simply to occupy an office or make speeches in the chambers of the National Assembly. It is about making a difference in the lives of the people who entrusted us with their mandate.
“Education remains one of the most important investments we can make in the future of our society. These smart devices are not merely computers; they are instruments of opportunity, learning, innovation and empowerment. I want our children to understand that their geographical location should never limit their access to knowledge or their aspirations in life.
“As we mark three years in office, I remain conscious of the responsibility that comes with the mandate you have given me. I will continue to do everything within my capacity to ensure that Kogi Central receives quality representation and benefits from meaningful developmental interventions.”
The senator urged students to use the devices effectively, embrace digital literacy and remain dedicated to their education. She also charged teachers and school administrators with ensuring the proper maintenance of the equipment and its use for academic purposes.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the 10th National Assembly, said her constituency interventions also covered healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, youth empowerment and economic development.
In the health sector, she has sponsored Senate Bill 521, seeking the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre, Ihima, to improve access to specialist healthcare services in Kogi Central and neighbouring communities.
Other areas of her constituency advocacy include improved road networks, access to potable water, school infrastructure, solar-powered facilities, skills acquisition and support for women and young people.
At Community Secondary School, Obangede, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr Shehu Sule, commended the senator for extending the educational intervention to the institution.
Sule said the laptop donation would broaden students’ learning opportunities and support human capital development. He also highlighted the importance of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s public profile in encouraging young people, particularly girls, to pursue leadership opportunities.
He said, “It is a great pleasure and rare honorary privilege to host not just a distinguished senator but the most popular, most outstanding and most celebrated female office holder in the contemporary Nigerian political space.
“We are therefore deeply blessed to be in your presence and be part of the history you have created through uncommon quality representation, provision of people-oriented projects, immense contribution to human capital development and great strides towards education.”
The school governing council chairman also appealed for continued collaboration with the senator and sought recognition for her contributions to education and youth development.
The laptop distribution comes amid growing emphasis on digital literacy and access to technology as essential components of modern education. Akpoti-Uduaghan said she would continue to pursue constituency projects and interventions focused on improving the social and economic well-being of residents of Kogi Central.
