The Nigerian Navy has warned members of the public against a fake recruitment notice circulating on social media, which claims to announce the 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise.
The Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, described the notice as unauthorised in a statement issued on Monday, urging prospective applicants to disregard it.
Folorunsho advised Nigerians to be cautious of recruitment information shared through unofficial social media accounts, websites and other unauthorised platforms.
He said all legitimate information on Nigerian Navy recruitment, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines and recruitment categories, would be released only through the Navy’s authorised communication channels.
“The official website for Nigerian Navy recruitment or enlistment is http://www.joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng, and the official website remains https://navy.mil.ng,” he said.
The Navy also warned prospective applicants against paying money to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms in connection with the recruitment exercise, stressing that its recruitment process is free.
“The Nigerian Navy does not authorise third parties to recruit applicants or collect recruitment fees on its behalf.
“The Navy remains committed to maintaining a transparent and credible recruitment process and will continue to provide timely and accurate information through its official communication channels,” he said.
The warning comes amid the circulation of recruitment-related information online, with the Navy urging applicants to verify announcements through its official platforms before taking any action.
The Nigerian Navy urged the public to rely only on authorised sources for updates on the 2026 recruitment exercise to avoid falling victim to fraudulent recruitment schemes.
